I personally do a considerable amount of night time work on the computer, and the Windows 10 dark mode does appear to lessen the strain on the eyes in the evening hours.
First things first…you’ll need to make sure you have the corresponding Windows 10 version. The full capabilities of dark mode (which includes a dark theme for the file explorer) is available via Windows 10 version 1809.
Windows 10
Go to:
- Settings
- Update & Security
Check for latest updates. Download, install, and restart your pc as needed.
After it is confirmed that version 1809 has been installed go to:
- Settings
- Personalization
- Colors
On the “Colors” section scroll down to the bottom where it says “Choose your defualt app mode”.
Click on the “Dark” radio button.
Dark mode should now be enabled.
